Photo Of Plumber Going Above And Beyond For His Job Has The Internet In Stitches

When Andrea Adams had a water line burst near her driveway, she thought that would be the most eventful thing to happen to her that week. She was so wrong.

A utility worker from the Acton Municipal Utility District, named Jimmie Cox, arrived at Adams’ house to fix the leak. Apparently, Cox had only taken the call to pick up a little overtime. When he arrived, however, he saw water spewing in all directions.

The 23-year-old plumber was unsure how to go about fixing this massive leak; not to mention, Adams was frantic about the growing flood in her front yard. This was when Cox decided to dive headfirst into the muddy hole.

“The hole was about five-and-a-half foot deep. There was a lady running around,” Cox told local news station WFAA.

Adams snapped a picture of Cox as his upper body was fully submerged in the muddy water. The photo immediately began to spread like wildfire.

“Then, I posted the photo to Facebook, and within two hours, people in Brazil were commenting,” Adams said.

The hilarious photo began to spread so quickly, and garner so much attention that Adams couldn’t believe it. She ended up having to shut down her social media account because of all the recognition.

“I’ve shut down my Facebook, turned off my email. I had a call from a lawyer in Atlanta that wanted to use the photo,” she said.

Before Adams was able to take down the viral photo — it had caught the attention of the ‘Dirty Jobs’ man himself — Mike Rowe.

I don't know who this guy is, but he's all over my wall, all over Facebook, and all over the Internet. Hell of a thing…

The photo had been shared so many times that it even came across The Discovery Channel host’s Facebook feed. The well-spoken Mike Rowe was so impressed by Cox’s above-and-beyond efforts that he had to share the picture as well, along with an offer to buy him a beer.

Cox received a phone call from Mike Rowe shortly after his hilarious photo went viral. And if that wasn’t awesome enough, the young plumber even received a year’s supply of Wrangler jeans for wearing their brand while being ‘Super Plumber.’

Oh, and remember Erin Brockovich? The renowned environmental activist and consumer advocate? She was super impressed by Cox’s willingness to go above and beyond as well.

Cox says that he received a lot of attention from the photo even though many people in his line of work would have done the same thing. He also says that he’s received a lot of Facebook messages as well. What were they asking?

“Asking me, essentially, what the hell I was doing,” Cox said.
