6+ Storage Hacks That’ll Make You Want To Organize Everything In Your House

Because I’m living in a small space, getting creative with storage hacks is definitely super important to me. I don’t want things just hanging around the apartment, but I also don’t have many places to put them. Sometimes, you’ve got to hide your stuff in plain sight, whereas other times you’ve got to get crafty with where you can hide them.

Another important factor is cost. Fancy storage units and solutions can get pricey, and not everyone can afford that. Hello, I live in a small condo for a reason!

1. Hide your stuff in plain sight by creating a vintage suitcase side table.

Not only will it function as a side table, you can put things you don’t use every day inside the actual suitcases. Thanks to Where My Heart Resides for sharing this great idea!

2. Over-the-door shoe organizers aren’t just for keeping your shoes off the floor.

You can use them for organizing all sorts of things, from winter gear in the house to toiletries and other essentials while camping. Cents And Order totally have our backs when it comes to storage hacks!

3. We all know bookshelves are great for wall storage, but I honestly would never have thought to repurpose one for use anywhere else in the home.

But if you slap on some wheels, add some handles, and give it a fresh coat of paint, you’ve got a totally new storage solution.

DIY Fun Ideas flipped the bookshelf on its side and pushed it under the bed for all kinds of storage!

I’ve done this with old drawers from old dressers, but adding the wheels is honestly so smart. I’d definitely give this a shot with an old shelving unit.

4. Am I the only one who has a bigger-than-it-should-be hat collection and nowhere to store it?

Throwing them in a closet is easy enough, I guess, but I’d much rather have them on display!

That’s why I’m absolutely loving this wall-mounted hat rack idea that I came across over on House & Home.

It’s something anyone could easily recreate, and it has the potential to make your beloved hat collection look like a million bucks.

5. If you love to bake, chances are you have more than your fair share of cookie sheets and cooling racks.

Not only are these things bulky and awkward, they can be a pain to store! However, thanks to this handy trick — courtesy of Driven By Decor — that’s a problem you no longer have to worry about if you invest in a simple pantry rack.

6. Other things that can be annoying and awkward to store are little items like umbrellas, dusters, and broom pans.

7. DIY Shower Organization

A friend of mine just renovated their bathroom, and while it looks incredibly beautiful, the one thing that stands out to me is the assortment of products lining the shelf in their new shower.

To get rid of an eyesore like that, all you need is a collection of tasteful bottles!

Simply transfer all of your shower products into the matching containers and your bathroom will instantly look more clean and organized. You can thank The Chic Site for this brilliant idea.

8. Clear your countertops with this handy charging station idea.

Gadgets have become a major part of our lives, and even though they make everyday tasks much easier to manage, they can result in a lot of unnecessary clutter.

This is why I think it’s a great idea to take inspiration from Hometalker Maggie Lois.

Everything she used for this hack can be found at Ikea, which means you won’t have to worry about spending a bunch of money in order to incorporate her clever system into your home.

9. PVC pipe is so much more useful in the home than one might think!

It’s great for creating funky storage spaces that can be used in pretty much any room in the house.

With a little bit of washi tape or some paint, you’ve got a sleek and stylish storage space for your craft supplies.

Today’s Creative Life might have added paints, but you could totally put kitchen stuff in here as well!

10. Like I said, there’s tons of things you can do with PVC to turn it into really useful storage.

Because of its tube-like shape, it can really hold anything you need!

Ouina shared this idea over on Hometalk, where they used the PVC pipe to organize their gardening equipment.

Much better than leaving them all over the garage like I definitely would.

11. If you’ve ever bought a cheap bed from Ikea, it probably needed slats to keep your mattress from falling through.

But have you ever thought of taking those slats and using them as storage?!

Ich Designer brilliantly took her slats and hung them on the wall to hold kitchen utensils and plants.

The result is a really funky design that costs around $10!

12. I actually have a few paint cans with a little bit of paint at home that I have absolutely no idea what to do with.

I’m sure you can recycle them, but I just haven’t gotten around to it!

Claire had the great idea of cleaning it out, adding paint chips to it with decoupage, and using it for storage!

You could really keep anything you need in this funky new storage bucket.

13. Wooden dowels of all sizes are great in DIY and hack projects, including ones for storage!

You can give a few long, thick pieces of dowel a paint job, tie them together, and then you’ve got somewhere to put your coats.

This DIY idea from Makeful is actually super smart for any small space, and it’s easy and cheap to make.

I definitely could use one of these in my home, so sign me up to make this next!

14. Rummaging through your recycling bin might be the best way to find cheap storage solutions.

You might think I’m crazy to use an old Coffee Mate bottle to create something useful, but trust me when I say that you can!

Jordan shared the smart idea of taking off the label and marking the bottle with a permanent marker to store things in the kitchen.

You could really use it to store things in any room in the house!
