As humans, we might not always know what animals are thinking. But sometimes it’s enough to read the expressions on their faces. When it comes to taking pictures, animals aren’t much different than people. Some of them are shy and don’t like having their photo taken. Others eat it up and love being in the spotlight. In that sense, they’re as individual as the rest of us.
It’s always amazing to see the animals who enjoy being in front of a camera. They may all have different ways of expressing it, but it’s clear they’re having a ball. From monkeys showing off comical grins to seals lolling in the snow, there’s no doubt there are certain animals who just love having all the attention on them.
These animals fall into the last category. They’re just plain thrilled to realize there’s a camera lens focused on them. No need to tell them not to be shy — that has never entered the equation. Smile and pose are more like it!
These guys are Mother Nature’s born models and they’re ready for their close-up. Let’s face it. They know they look good. As the old song goes, “If you’ve got it, flaunt it!”
1. He’ll say it himself: what a handsome boy!
There’s no doubt that this all-white German Shepherd is striking. With his pure-as-snow coat and powerful body, he’s certainly a beautiful animal. What’s more, you get the feeling he knows it as he flashes a big doggie grin right at the camera. Or maybe he’s just happy to see you!
2. I was just out looking for some nuts.
This little fella looks a bit caught off guard by the camera — but that doesn’t mean he’s not happy to take a photo. With his bushy tail, perky ears, and adorable little paws, you just want to pick him up and snuggle. Just remember, it’s a bad idea to cuddle with wild squirrels.
3. Beauty is all about confidence.
You say this alpaca has goofy teeth and crazy hair, he says he’s unique and artistic. In spite of his impressively large teeth, he’s not afraid to flash a big smile right at the camera. When it comes to showing off his looks, he’s too happy to be embarrassed.
4. How dare you ask if this is natural!
This handsome boy is a bit more gussied up for his photo shoot, but he’d be gorgeous even with his natural hair. As it is, he’s got some impressive auburn locks flowing down his furry shoulders. They’re perfect for a car ride with all the windows down.
5. The eyes are the window to the soul.
This ostrich is giving us a direct stare right in the eye. He might be posing, strutting his stuff just the way he knows how to do. Or maybe he’s thinking about how he’s one of the biggest birds in the world, how fast he can run, and how close that photographer is.
6. This is the definition of a candid photo.
This gorilla is into a more natural look. Rather than strike a pose, he wants the camera to capture him just as he is: gazing around with one flower in his hand. Modeling is art, after all, and he wants everyone to ask themselves what that gorilla is thinking about.
7. This is the happiest pig of all the pigs.
It’s a well-known fact that pigs are some of the smartest animals around. This little guy goes to show that they’re also some of the happiest. With his adorable pose and a charming little smile, he’s enough to make you think about going vegetarian.
8. I want to look artistic and thoughtful.
This adorable little macaque is so cute, it’s almost unbearable. He also has a pair of enormous, soulful eyes that look as though he is thinking about a faraway place. Does he know exactly how sweet he looks as he’s posing so carefully? We’re going to say yes, he absolutely does.
9. You have to tell me what products you use.
Women must look at this horse’s majestic mane and be filled with envy. Look at those waves, that texture, those highlights, not to mention the gorgeous effect of the sunlight in the background. But is she going to give up her hair care secrets any time soon? The forecast says: doubtful.
10. This guy took his hair inspiration from Justin Bieber.
He may just be a bull in a field, but this guy has some serious style. Want to know how you achieve an amazing blowout like that? Well, my friends, there’s nothing to say except that it’s genetic. This handsome boy has confidence in his bones and he’s not afraid to show it.
11. Let’s give them all a wink.
He’s the king of the animals, and he’s handsomeness proves it. This regal guy is lounging in the grass with the wind blowing in his mane, but he still has time to stop and give the camera a cheeky smile and a wink. Hello to you ladies of all species.
12. What do you call it when a fish photobombs you?
This fish saw a couple of humans taking a picture and couldn’t resist jumping into the frame. What’s more, he and the human just happened to strike the exact same pose. The two of them couldn’t have coordinated it any better, and they know it. Talk about being too cool for the camera.
13. Bro, do you even jump?
Forget being classically handsome: this muscular kangaroo is ready to show off his amazing bod. We wonder what his workout routine is and how many protein shakes he drinks every day to get muscles that size. Or does he get it all from jumping around and boxing with the other kangaroos?
14. White from head to toe.
This beautiful lion has some of the lightest fur and eyes around. He’s absolutely gorgeous, and his pose shows that he’s well aware of the fact. He’s the king of the animals, and his regal pose seems to reflect that. Don’t be jealous, all the rest of you – there’s no competing with the king.
15. Just grin and bear it.
Marley is a sweet little puppy from his soft, fluffy ears to his toes. He’s leaning back against the pillows and striking a pose, but his smile isn’t quite camera-ready. It’s all okay, though — he’s so cute that no one minds. You could even say he’s a PILS: Puppy I’d Like to Snuggle.
16. Give ‘em the old razzle-dazzle.
When someone whips out a camera unexpectedly, this gorgeous boy knows exactly what to do: flash a big smile and give them a wink. It just so happens this time, he was wearing his favorite hat. No one can ever resist a happy, smiling puppy in an adorable hat.
17. He’s short, red and handsome, a regular fox.
How to take a picture when you’re a fox: first, be unbearably handsome and know all about it. Secondly, take all photos with a snowy backdrop and just a few snowflakes caught in your red fur. Thirdly, stare into the distance with all the gravitas of a professional Shakespearean actor.
18. This monkey is happy to see you.
People say that the easiest way to become beautiful is to smile from ear to ear. Clearly, this monkey has been talking to them, because he’s got the world’s biggest grin on his face. But he also lives in a monkey paradise, so he has a lot to smile about.
19. This owl is breaking past the stereotypes.
Owls have a reputation for being angry, mean, scary, and grumpy, almost like the flying version of irritated cats. This owl is challenging everyone to think of him a different way. He’s got a big smile across his face and he looks like he’s laughing at a joke.
20. You may call me “Your Majesty.”
Let’s be clear: this lion knows all the rules of an elegant society and he lives rigidly by all of them. So, no, you may not call him by his first name. You may call him “Your Majesty” and always bow when he goes by. And before you ask, he doesn’t do handshakes.
21. He knows exactly the effect he has.
This crocodile is flashing a big grin at the camera, but you also get the feeling that he knows exactly how scary those teeth look. It might be a smile, but it’s a pretty sharp one. Let’s not forget all the things crocodiles love to eat: pythons, water buffalo, and maybe a tasty human or two.
22. This little gorilla is Instagram-worthy.
This gorilla, like his friend, is all about candid camera shots. He’s glancing winsomely over one shoulder while making an expression as though he’s thinking deep thoughts. We’ll never know what’s actually on his mind. It might be bananas for all we know, but he does a good job of pretending.
23. He’s going for a spontaneous roll in the snow.
When the photographer pulled his camera out, this happy seal decided to flop down and do a pose in the snow. He’s got the biggest grin on his face, showing nearly every tooth in his mouth. He’s also showing off his soft, gorgeous fur to perfection. Are you jealous yet?
24. A happy turtle in a happy home.
Have you ever seen a giant turtle smile? Well, you have now, in addition to two wide eyes and two enormous nostrils. He might move slowly, but he has a lot to be happy about. After all, when you move at a slow speed, you have a lot of time to stop and smell the roses, as they say.
25. Oh hello, I didn’t see you there.
No one has ever tried as hard as this kangaroo when it comes to posing and looking like it’s all natural. He’s got his arms flexed to show off his enormous muscles, but he’s trying to play it off like he’s just laying down for a snooze. With his half-open eyes, he looks completely unimpressed. That doesn’t mean you should be.
26. Who can be unhappy in such a gorgeous place?
These two little pigs look as though they’re having the time of their lives, swimming in circles in the pristine blue water of the Bahamas. It sounds like an idyllic life, so it’s no wonder they look so happy. Here in piggy heaven, the sun is shining, the water is clear, and everyone is a vegetarian.
27. Sometimes you have to be your own photographer.
Everybody loves taking selfies, and this talented guy is proving it. With his eyes bright and clear and his mouth open in a big smile, he’s ready for his close up — he’ll just be taking it himself. He feels confident enough to be on both sides of the camera, and there’s nothing wrong with that!
28. This is my best side.
This handsome gentleman has quite a flirtatious expression. He’s glancing back over one shoulder as if to say, “Right this way, madam.” Those big eyes, soft fur, and curly whiskers are almost too much to handle. No wonder he’s happy to pose — if I were that cute, I would be, too!
29. Just bat those baby blues my way.
Whoa, get a load of those amazing eyes! Most birds, whether big or small, have dark eyes, but this one has light blue ones. He has eyes (and eyelashes!) that are more beautiful than what most girls have. If you’re really nice to him, he’ll tell you where he got his mascara.
30. He could write the book “How to Pose Casually.”
There’s no stress in this dog’s day — he’s striking a relaxed pose as he leans over to the camera. He’s not about that fast life like some other dogs. He just wants to go with the flow and take things easy. If you happen to get a couple of pictures along the way, he doesn’t mind.
31. I just don’t know my own strength.
If you thought those other kangaroos were buff, you should check out this fellow. He crushes buckets without a second thought. But don’t worry, he’s actually a nice guy … he just is too big for his own good. It’s the curse of being a big muscular kangaroo without opposable thumbs.
32. Flash the camera a smile!
No one has to convince this chimp to say “cheese!” He’s got his camera-best smile ready to go and he’s posing against a big blue backdrop. He’d smile even wider if you were to, say, offer him a banana. He’d do almost anything for a good banana.
33. What’s up with these horses and their amazing hair?
Apparently, when it comes to modeling, horses are all about the hair. They’re swooped, blown out, and styled long before the cameras ever arrive. That way, whenever it’s time for a photo, all they have to do is pose, knowing their hair is to die for. Don’t get too close, you’ll ruin my blowout!
34. Who knew goats could be so gorgeous?
This guy knows that he’s cute, and he’s feeling pretty confident about it. Just look at the way he eyes the camera with his head tilted, posing like he thinks he’s the most handsome goat around. That other goat in the background? Not nearly as handsome as this young man.
35. Are you batting your eyelashes?
Everyone knows that bears are incredibly dangerous — in fact, they’re one of the deadliest land animals ever. But still, look at this guy. He’s so cute, with his bashful little glance at the camera lens. With his shy smile and sideways look, he’s doing a great impression of a shrinking violet. The truth is, he’s anything but.
