Often, when a child arrives into the world, the moment is captured from the perspective of the mother; exhausted but happy women in hospital beds cradling their new little bundles of joy. However, the profoundly life-changing moment is seldom seen from the eyes of the father. The series of photos below capture real and honest moments when dads see their newborn children for the first time. The photos are beautiful in that the reactions of these fathers are an expression of true, unbreakable love.

Bonus. Photos of Dads being Dads
“My dad had a medical procedure the day of my prom and was out of his mind on pain killers when my mom insisted that i pose with him before prom. i like to think he would’ve put down the hose for the pic if he’d been in his right mind, but in all honesty it could’ve gone either way. he has no memory of taking this photo.”
Well that’s one way to do it…
It’s not easy being green.
Pony pony pony pony pony!!!
You can fight the law, but you can’t fight that feeling.
“Growing up in Australia, our neighbour owned a “Ye Olde” penny farthing bicycle, of which he was most proud. He made an appearance at our house on an almost daily basis asking for favours but one day he insisted that my dad take a ride on his prized possession. Needless to say, it was a terrifying experience for him!”
Don’t you know, brown doesn’t go with black?
“ Father and son at museum hosted event at Halloween 1999. I am an owl and he is a toucan bird. I made both costumes. My current museum educator thought that this image and moment in time needed to be officially documented.”

“My dad loved motorcycles. This is him on his Yamaha with me in back and my 2 year old brother bungee corded to the seatback.”
“When dad slips on the shorty-shorts, he means business.”
Not every idea is a “slam dunk.”
“Thank you, dad, for always looking out.”
To the man who taught us so much.
