Cats are very intelligent animals and probably a lot smarter than they lead you to believe. So with all their strange behaviours and mannerisms it’s probably safe to assume that even though they act like incredibly strange animals they more than likely known what they’re doing, especially when they choose to ignore all of the expensive cat furniture you’ve got them.
