Every country has its own iconic landmarks and Italy’s has to be The Leaning Tower of Pisa, visited by millions of tourists each year who’ve got one thing in mind – taking a funny photos of them leaning up against the tower thanks to some funny forced perspective photography.
The tower which sits adjacent to the Pisa Cathedral was doomed to be famously wonky right from the outset when it was first built in 1178. Builders could see that the tower wasn’t straight but continued on anyway. In 2001 the tower was reopened after engineers carried out foundation work to ensure the tower remained stable and to this day it’s famous lean continues to attract millions.
