We spend a lot of time making our living spaces more efficient and comfortable.
But given that the average person will spend 92 freakin’ days in the bathroom over the course of their lifetime, it’s probably worth paying attention to these spaces as well.
1. Easily de-fog your mirror.
If you want fog-free mirrors after your shower, you can use something that’s already in your bathroom cabinet: shaving cream.
Just a dab or two, rubbed over the whole mirror, will help prevent it from getting all fogged up.
2. Clean your shower head with vinegar.
Vinegar is one of the best cleaning solutions there is, and it’s especially useful for cleaning clogged-up shower heads. It’s super easy, too: just fill a bag with vinegar, tie it around the shower head, and let it work its magic.
3. Hang a handy mini shelf.
This all-in-one design looks great, but small shelves are easy to find and easy to set up. Putting one right above the TP holder is a great way to create a handy spot for setting down your stuff.
4. Put your phone in the sink.
Seriously, hear me out! This is a dead simple, easy way to amplify your favorite tunes and podcasts when you’re soaking in the tub. Just remember your phone is in there and don’t turn the faucet on!
5. Let your toilet brush drip dry.
This is stupidly easy, but most people never think to do it! Next time you’re giving your toilet a scrub, use the seat to prop the brush up and let it drip dry!
6. P-V-C, easy as 1-2-3.
This fun idea from RentAte repurposes PVC pipes as a handy way to store clunky bathroom appliances like hair dryers and hair straighteners. When they’re painted an attractive color, they can blend in seamlessly with your existing decor.
7. This isn’t lazy, it’s smart.
Stephanie Lynn created this gorgeous DIY lazy Susan to make her stuff more accessible. You can buy an inexpensive lazy Susan and put it in your cupboard to ensure that your bathroom items are always close at hand, or make your own at home!
8. Shower rods have more than one use.
As demonstrated by DIYer Dawn Nicole, hanging a second shower rod in your tub area gives ample space to hang your various sponges. You could even rig up a basket system to hold soap and shampoo.
9. Let your shower do the ironing for you.
Ironing is a hassle, but you can steam the wrinkles right out just by taking a shower. Simply hang your clothes up in a spot where they’ll absorb some steam. All you need to do is take a hot shower.
10. Towels and ladders: made for each other.
Funky Junk Interiors shares this unique and eye-catching towel rack. All you need is an appropriately-sized antique ladder leaned against the wall to give you more than enough space to display your towels. And if you get bored of a ladder in your bathroom, there are plenty of other ways to use one around the house!
11. Use a utensil organizer in your bathroom drawer.
Tuck away not-so-pretty items like toothbrushes and toothpaste. Ensure they’re kept neat and tidy by using a utensil organizer to keep messes at bay.
12. File your clutter away.
Carrie from Dream Green DIY suggests using metal file holders as baskets for unwieldy items. They can be attractively mounted in plain sight or attached to the inside of a bathroom cabinet if you’d prefer to keep them tucked away.
13. Sew up a TP holder.
Ashley from Make It & Love It created this awesome TP holder. It’s easy to make if you have any sewing experience, and it saves your guests the hassle of rooting around in the cupboards to find a new roll.
14. Make your own bathtub.
This hack comes particularly in handy for those with toddlers or pets. If you don’t have a bathtub, just purchase a baby pool and blow it up in your shower. Your baby or fur friend can splash around without making too much of mess!
15. Magnets: how don’t they work?
The bathroom area is full of small objects — makeup containers, bobby pins, etc. — that create clutter. The solution? Magnets. Whether you make a fancy board like this one or just glue some magnetic strips, magnets are your friend.
16. Never misplace your razor again.
This dollar store DIY just requires two command hooks. Place them side by side in your shower or any surface, and place your razor on!
